Preparation for Knee and Shoulder Surgery:
Within at least 30 days of your surgery, you should obtain medical clearance from your primary care physician. For outpatient procedures, you should also arrange for someone to drive you to and from the appointment. Avoid any anti-inflammatory drugs or blood thinning agents one week prior to surgery. Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your scheduled procedure. A nurse from Hawthorn Surgical Center will contact you to give additional pre-operative instructions prior to your surgery date.
